"Arranged" being a term loosely applied here - Eric did all the heavy lifting on transcribing!
Personnel in "Eigsti's Eight":
Piano: Ian Zapolsky
Bass: Adam Goldman
Drums: Jerry Levine
Guitar: Daniel Hipke
Alto: Eric Vanderbilt-Mathews
Tenor: Scott…
Barry, if you could email me the Bb chart for Out of Town, that would be great. Maybe I will play the first half on alto, then pick up soprano? I'm at FrankT@frankjazz.com Is there a Concert chart avail as well? I would let the pianist and bassist in my quartet work from that, rather than the 6 - 8 page original in the 4 Corneres book.

I am doing splendid! Thanks Barry. I just got back from the Sierras backpacking and am working to finish writing a few tunes, and have to finish 4 transcriptions within a few weeks so I am busy. But I am happy to be home again with my horns :D. Music and tennis go great together to make this the best summer I've ever had. Right now i"m listening to "Two to Tango" by Newport High School and Mark Taylor, one of my planned transcriptions. If you do not have the KPLU school of jazz album 5 yet you should get it :D its got South Whidbey, Newport, Roosevelt, Garfield etc. and my saxophone teacher Neil Welch with Shorewood on it. I think you'd like it. What are you working on currently? Its been tough to keep up the intensity after Centrum
Barry, I loved that Four Corners CD. I had a fusion band in the 90s, and actually bought the book for 4 Corners, but we never quite attacked Out of Town, cause the alto player was a little weak around the edges, lol. But I feel inspired hearing your pared-down arrangement, and would hope that at this point I can do a job somewhat comparable to Mr. Vanderbilt-Mathews. Peace!
Hey Barry, Great to meet you last week! And glad to see the Taylor E. Combo video posted here so I DO Get to see you guys do Out of Town. Sweet! Take care, Solo on!
